LAHORE: has organized a US university certificate course for the working journalists in different cities of Pakistan. As many as 10 male and female journalists associated with different media organizations participated in the online “Basic Reporting and Writing Certificate” conducted at Lahore Press Club on Oct 27. A similar course was conducted for the journalists of a private TV channel in Islamabad on Oct 26. Earlier the same course was organized at Peshawar Press Club on Oct 24 for the journalists of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. 10 journalists each participated in both Islamabad and Peshawar events.

The course is designed and written by Poynter University, USA. After passing the assessment, the journalists will receive a certificate from the Poynter University. The aim of this course is to produce certified journalists who can contribute positively to journalism in Pakistan., an entity based in the US, is working for the promotion of ethical journalism in Pakistan and the capacity building of Pakistani journalists through international media trainings.

Addressing the participants, Mr Farooq Haider Mirza, Chairman of the 4thpillar, said the organization aims to create a club of certified journalists who practice responsible and ethical journalism in Pakistan. “To achieve this objective trainings will be conducted in all the major cities of Pakistan,” he addded. He said that this international training will be imparted totally free of cost to the journalists of Pakistan.
